It's All Been Happening!

Ok, so apart from my brief Baby G post earlier, I haven't been posting for six months. The reason for that is I have been either damn busy looking for a job, or preparing to move to my new job. Yes! Success was achieved early in 2018, surprisingly by revisiting a role I had previously decided was a bit dodgy. It turned out it wasn't dodgy, it's just that the company hadn't really thought much about how they were going to manage mining aspects of the business at that stage, so it sounded weird.

So we moved over to Kupang, in West Timor, Indonesia in March. It was goodbye to 3am wake-ups, goodbye to shitty customers, cooking fish, cleaning deep fryers, and the other various aspects of working in the shop that I had grown weary of. Sadly it was also goodbye (temporarily at least) to my family, especially Mum and my sister V, who had been so central to our lives in Barooga. We do miss a lot about Barooga, namely our very cool house, the great school for Lala, and being close to family. Oh, and Carlton Dry. We also seriously miss Carlton Dry!!!!

It's interesting over here. People generally describe Kupang as being a couple of decades behind the rest of Indonesia, which is saying something! And you know what, they're right. It can be damn frustrating, particularly with the poor quality of workmanship in just about everything, and also the apparent unreliability of people. But in general the people are really friendly, the climate great, and we are settled, if not 100% comfortable. Yet, anyway.

Enough for now, will post more in a bit.

The Baby G Song

And a Baby G, and a Baby G,
Baby, Baby G.
And a Baby G, and a Baby G,
Baby, Baby G.
And a G, and G,
And a Baby, Baby G.
Yub ub bub, ub bub bub,
Baby, Baby, G

I needed to write that down. It's the little song I quietly sing to my youngest boy to calm him when he wakes at night, or just to generally settle him down. When I pick him up when he's moaning, and sing a couple of verses of the song, he soon puts his head on my shoulder and settles. It's a tender and wonderful moment as a dad, and a memory I want to hang onto forever.

Not sure why we call our little one Baby G, it's funny that all our kids have developed nick names over the years. Lala, B-doi and Baby G, haha! I also throw Bubble G into the song here and there. It does seem a silly thing to post about, but I am doing it more for my own memories.

YouTube - Revisited

So it has been almost five years since I did my first YT post, reflecting on what I was watching at the time. Then, in mid-2020, YT as my ma...
