Dream

So last night I had a dream.

It was a really cool dream actually, although as per usual, most of it has now faded away. But fortunately, due to my insane sleep patterns these days, I was able to remember a fair amount of it after I woke up.

It was centered around this island, and a specific spot on the island that seemed to stop things - metal things anway - from moving. It was something akin to a WW2 scenario, at least that's how it felt, although even being a kind of tropical island setting, it felt more like Aussies and Germans rather than Japanese.

At one point I was trying to observe the phenomenon while drinking a Bintang from a roadside stall.

I had a house, which appeared to be too modern inside for WW2. But then I guess my subconscious does only have my brain to work with, not a history book.

Another interesting point was that who was in charge of the island and who was attacking it seemed to change. Sometimes it felt like the Aussies were attacking, sometimes the Germans. But to be honest, I never really felt like either side had a specific identity in my dream.

This has the makings of a fictional story perhaps. I might even give it a brief go.

Edit: Reading this again many months later, it almost seems like nonsense to me now. I suspect that is often the case with vivid dreams - they start off being so meaningful and amazing, and eventually just fade away to a mere shell of their original fabric. Next time I'll try to capture a bit more detail...
